Our Tax team is friendly, driven, and diverse, servicing clients across the country and around the world. By providing expertise in many different specialist areas of tax, they collaborate across BDO to deliver wider business solutions. As our clients' needs and the regulatory environment evolve, you'll encounter new problems to solve and new opportunities for growth.
You will be providing VAT Advisory services to start-ups, scale-ups, private businesses, FTSE listed multinationals, as well as public sector and not-for-profit entities. Each client has different needs, and by applying your expertise in different contexts, you'll develop your skills and gain valuable experience throughout your career.
This role will provide VAT advisory services to a wide range of organisations. The primary responsibility will be to manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring the Firm's quality and risk standards are met. The role will be supported by the VAT Director and VAT Partner.
Responsibilities:- Provide VAT advisory services with some compliance element to a wide range of clients.
- Ensure the Firm's quality control procedures are adhered to and professional standards are met.
- Highlight risk, quality control, and technical matters to the Partner/Director.
- Develop professional relationships with clients and within the Firm.
- Manage a portfolio of clients including client take on, engagement, billings, recovery rates, and debt management.
- Act as a key point of contact within the Firm for the client.
- Ensure assignments are completed within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Liaise with HMRC and other stakeholders.
- Support, train, mentor, and advise others in your area.
- Challenge current practice, driving improvements and championing change.
- In-depth, up-to-date technical knowledge of VAT and the ability to deal with complex issues.
- Project and staff management experience.
- Ability to manage a client portfolio profitably.
- Experience of dealing with client management and HMRC.
- CTA and/or ACA qualified or experienced within HMRC.
- Demonstrable VAT advisory experience.
- Take personal responsibility for own decisions and actions.
