For one of our clients we are currently recruiting Statutory Technicians (Team Leads) both full time and contract roles.
Location: Offshore (with potential for worldwide travel)
Contract Type: Project-based | Offshore rotation
Role Overview: We are seeking a Statutory Technician – Team Lead to oversee and implement statutory inspection operations across various offshore wind projects. The role involves supervising small teams, ensuring compliance with industry and internal standards, supporting project mobilisation and demobilisation, and contributing to the development of safe and efficient inspection procedures. Candidates should be confident acting as a point of contact on site, representing the company in daily planning and debrief meetings, and managing inspection deliverables using asset tracking and compliance software. The position is primarily offshore-based, with the potential for shore-based duties involving daily offshore transit.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Operations
- Ensure inspection teams are adequately prepared and equipped for offshore operations
- Manage tooling, equipment, and consumables such as oils, greases, and tagging items
- Audit PPE and team presentation standards
- Mentor junior technicians and provide ongoing support
- Complete daily reports, checklists, and inspection documentation
- Enforce compliance with internal safe systems of work
- Inspection Duties
- Conduct statutory inspections in accordance with LOLER, PUWER, and other applicable legislation
- Inspect and test:
- Fire extinguishers
- TMSE
- PFPE and loose lifting equipment
- Hydraulic systems, including PRVs and accumulators
- Nacelle cranes (e.g. hoists, hydraulic cranes)
- Davit cranes (load testing with water weights)
- Man-riding lifts
- Oversee a team of technicians and contractors on site
- Liaise with project management to support delivery of inspection tooling and solutions
- Manage small procurement tasks (< £100)
- Create and manage documentation, including PDFs and inspection reports
- Oversee data entry and tracking via digital systems (e.g. Motion Kinetic & My Compliance)
- Supervise team members with a strong focus on safe work practices
- Lead toolbox talks and participate in safety planning
- Report and challenge unsafe behaviours and conditions
- Contribute to safety improvement initiatives and incident reporting
- Review daily inspection reports and ensure completeness and accuracy
- Log non-conformities and contribute to continuous quality improvement
- Perform annual reviews of documents and SOPs
- Conduct LOLER/PUWER inspections on company assets pre- and post-deployment
- Participate in root cause analysis where applicable
- Ensure proper disposal of waste in line with project and environmental policies
Requirements
Essential Skills & Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and reporting platforms (e.g. My Compliance, Motion Kinetic)
- LEEA Foundation (working towards General Diploma)
- Strong understanding of LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, and fire safety regulations
- Hands-on experience in PFPE and loose lifting equipment inspection
- Working knowledge of COSHH regulations and calibration practices
- TMSE inspection training and experience
- BAFE Fire Extinguisher Inspection
- Crane and service lift inspection (including wire rope knowledge)
- Full UK clean driving licence
- GWO BST (including Sea Survival)
- GWO BTT
- OGUK Medical
- Wind Turbine Safety Rules (WTSR)
- 5+ years' experience in a similar role
- Apprenticeship or vocational training in mechanical/electrical discipline
Desirable
- Background in maintenance and troubleshooting of offshore equipment
- Additional crane/service lift certifications or demonstrable equivalent experience
