Technical lead Test Engineer (Mobile, API) β Insurance - Hybrid β London 3 days a week

My new client is looking for a Technical Lead Test Engineer to join the team on a contract basis. You will need to be in the office 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drive the overall QE strategy for the mobile lab.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, and third-party providers to ensure quality across all touchpoints.
- Lead test planning, estimation, and execution across Flutter mobile apps and Java APIs.
- Define, implement, and evolve automation frameworks for mobile (Flutter) and backend (API) testing.
- Ensure seamless integration and robust validation of third-party APIs and SDKs.
- Establish and monitor quality metrics, defect leakage trends, and automation coverage.
- Foster a quality-first mindset within the team and across the development lifecycle.
- Mentor and grow a high-performing team of QE engineers.
- Drive continuous improvement in QE tools, processes, and best practices.
Must-Have Skills:
- 7+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, with at least 2 years in a lead role.
- Strong experience testing mobile apps β ideally Flutter or cross-platform frameworks.
- Solid understanding of Java-based APIs and backend testing.
- Proven experience with REST API automation tools (e.g., Postman, RestAssured).
- Experience with mobile automation frameworks (e.g., Appium, Flutter Driver, or integration with CI/CD).
- Working knowledge of tools like JIRA, TestRail, Jenkins, Git, etc.
- Deep understanding of modern testing practices including shift-left, CI/CD, mocking, and contract testing.
- Familiarity with testing third-party integrations via APIs and SDKs.
Nice-to-Have:
- Experience in performance and security testing for mobile apps and APIs.
- Exposure to cloud-based device farms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
- Prior experience working in a regulated industry like banking or insurance.
