Your focus will be on building and scaling high-performing teams, evolving our technology foundations, and delivering high-quality, secure, and reliable products in close collaboration with Science, Product, and Go-To-Market functions.You will drive execution excellence, coach and mentor engineering leaders, and be accountable for ensuring our systems and software development practices meet the company’s standards for scale, sustainability, and innovation.Success in this role will be defined by:Delivering reliable, impactful, and scalable products aligned with Treefera’s missionGrowing and supporting a mission-aligned team of engineers and technical leadersEnsuring engineering teams operate efficiently and collaborate effectively with science, product, and commercial counterpartsThis is a unique opportunity to take a leadership role at an ambitious, mission-driven company operating at the frontier of AI and sustainability.Must-have requirements:A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or a related field.5+ years of engineering leadership experience, including experience as a Head of Engineering, VP, or Engineering DirectorProven ability to build and manage high-performing engineering teamsExperience scaling SaaS data platforms, ideally with real-time or high-throughput processing componentsSolid understanding of modern software architecture, infrastructure, security, and devops practicesFamiliarity with AI/ML development lifecycles (MLOps) and data infrastructureExperience leveraging cloud technologiesStrong execution mindset: able to break down complex problems and lead teams to deliveryExperience with agile engineering practices, engineering OKRs, and measurable quality outcomesExcellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop high-performing technology teams.A hands-on, practical approach to engineering leadership — able to dive into architecture or delivery challenges when neededDesirable requirements (if applicable):Previous experience in climate tech, ideally in startup environmentsFamiliarity with data governance frameworks, compliance, or environmental reporting standardsAdvanced degree in a technical field (e.g. MSc or PhD)Certifications such as AWS, GCP, ITIL, or CISSPProficient in risk mitigation and data security of digital assets.Strong stakeholder management skills, including collaboration with Product, Science, GTM, and ComplianceExperience building remote-first engineering teamsDevelopment Opportunities – What you will gain by working at TreeferaAt Treefera we believe in developing all our employees and associates so they can achieve their full potential.
