Principal Project Manager

We’re supporting a major institution on a critical district heating replacement project who are looking to appoint a Principal Project Manager.

This is a replacement project, not a new build. That means the engineering work is more straightforward, but the environment is complex, with many moving parts and a diverse range of stakeholders.

You will be responsible for setting up and launching a new energy and heating operation from the ground up. Able to work independently but also closely with the Project Director to support them from getting systems in place and steer into a fully functional operational mode.

This is very much a highly technical role—as the Principal Project Manager you’ll be expected to participate in meetings, present to senior stakeholders, make operational decisions, and bring structure where it doesn’t yet exist. It’s an opportunity to play a key role in a large-scale infrastructure project at a pivotal early stage.

We’re open-minded about background. If you're a Mechanical Engineer seeking a challenge, or perhaps you come from a utilities or energy company and understand the landscape deeply. If you've run your own business or led complex operational setups before, that experience will be incredibly valuable.

What matters most is that you're confident, a strong communicator, willing to get stuck in, and not afraid of complexity. We’re also looking for someone who is resourceful, self-directed, and able to work independently with minimal structure.
