Overview
Our client, an ambitious and well-funded player in the blockchain space, is seeking a seasoned Director of Blockchain Infrastructure & DevOps. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a Director Level or C-Suite DevOps specialist with deep expertise in blockchain infrastructure, cloud platforms, and low-latency systems. The successful candidate will lead infrastructure strategy and execution across both Layer 1 and Layer 2 solutions. The role is integral to the performance, security, and scalability of the blockchain ecosystem—perfect for someone with a DevOps background looking to drive innovation and shape the future of Web3 infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain secure and scalable infrastructure for a cutting-edge blockchain platform.
- Own the full DevOps lifecycle: from cloud architecture to deployment, monitoring, and optimisation.
- Lead and mentor a team of DevOps and infrastructure engineers.
- Architect low-latency, high-performance solutions tailored to decentralised systems.
- Manage and optimise infrastructure across cloud platforms including Digital Ocean, AWS, GCP, and Oracle Cloud.
- Deploy and scale blockchain nodes, validators, and full Testnet/Mainnet environments.
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI.
- Oversee configuration management, automation, and version control (Terraform, Salt, Vault, Git).
- Collaborate with developers to streamline DevOps practices into core product pipelines.
- Ensure uptime, reliability, and security across all systems through robust monitoring and incident response protocols.
- Manage cloud networking, IAM policies, CDN performance, and secrets management.
- Produce clear documentation of infrastructure, processes, and architecture decisions.
- Stay current with blockchain trends, tools, and best practices.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as a DevOps Engineer with a progression into leadership or director-level roles.
- Track record in managing infrastructure teams or DevOps squads.
- Deep familiarity with blockchain infrastructure, validator/node deployment, and decentralised ecosystems.
- Experience optimising low-latency environments (ideally in trading, DeFi, or performance-critical systems).
- Strong hands-on experience with:
- Cloud platforms: Digital Ocean, AWS, GCP, Oracle Cloud
- Containerisation & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
- Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible
- Scripting: Python, Bash
- Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.
- Version control and automation: GitHub, GitOps, Jenkins
- Security and secrets management: Vault, AWS Secrets Manager
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Testnet/Mainnet blockchain deployments.
- Familiarity with setting up blockchain validators and node clusters.
- Exposure to high-frequency or low-latency trading systems.
- Previous experience in a Web3 startup or founding team.
