The Lead Electrical I&C Engineer performs a variety of electrical and I&C engineering work activities in the initial planning and design phases of nuclear plant power uprate and modification projects. This will include nuclear design and quality assurance activities, managing engineering projects, and coordinating and interfacing with client organizations. Provide vendor oversight and review of vendor deliverables relative to nuclear design and modifications processes.
The Lead Electrical I&C engineer is responsible for discipline design activities, managing both discipline project budgets and schedules, and closure of plant modifications ranging in value to several million dollars. Specify products and select vendors related to major plant modifications. As a Lead Engineer, it is expected that you provide mentorship to junior engineers to support continued growth within the organization.
Additionally, the Lead Engineer is expected to perform a variety of Electrical and I&C engineering work in the initial planning and design phases of nuclear plant power upgrade projects and plant modification projects. Independently evaluates, selects, and uses standards, techniques, procedures, and criteria. Must have experience working on an interdisciplinary team; be capable of leading and motivating engineers and designers to successfully achieve project milestones.
Lead Engineer work activities may include collection and interpretation of engineering data, direct and support the development of project modification packages, design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering. Responsible for ensuring conformance to applicable plant, NRC, and engineering codes and standards, as well as company policies and procedures during engineering activities.
The candidate should be familiar with developing Engineering Change Packages (ECP) with actual preparation experience. Familiarity with the IP-ENG-001 process is a plus. A Professional Engineer License or the ability to obtain one is desirable.
The candidate should have communication skills that support working with customers, attending project meetings, writing proposals, as well as internal conversations with other project members. The candidate will have experience with preparing project estimates and review and approval of Electrical/I&C engineering estimates. The candidate will have experience with assigning, directing, and reviewing project activities. The candidate should have knowledge of the nuclear QA and corrective action program processes.
Who You Are:
- 5 years experience required, 10+ years nuclear experience, PE strongly preferred
- Nuclear Modification Package Experience
- Equipment and System Design Experience
- Familiarity with digital control systems/upgrades
- Experienced in design reviews and design review preparation.
- Prior on-site work at utility sites
- PWR/BWR experience acceptable
- Experience with controlling schedule and budget for assigned tasks.
