Greenkeeper (12m FTC) – SouthwellWe are looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Greenkeeper to join our exiting venue!At ARC we embrace diversity, we develop our people, we care for our visitors, we think about our impact and we are proud of our sport.Who is Southwell Racecourse and Golf Course?One of only six all-weather racecourse tracks in the UK, Southwell has its own unique charm and character, making it one of the premier sporting venues in the East Midlands. We are unique in that it\’s the only racecourse in the UK with a fibresand surface. With racing on both All-Weather and Turf tracks taking place throughout the year, we are one of the country\’s busiest racecourses. Established in 1993, Southwell Golf Club has matured into a course that presents a stiff challenge to golfers of all abilities. The course has two contrasting nine holes. The Front 9 sits within Southwell Racecourse and is characterised by a large number of water hazards. The 7th hole, a 138 yards par 3 with an island green is Southwell\’s signature hole and is our own equivalent of Sawgrass.The Back 9 offers a completely different challenge and the tree-lined fairways place an emphasis on accuracy from the tee. Whilst the holes are not overly long and can offer some birdie opportunities, the narrow fairways and small greens can easily result in dropped shots so finding the fairways is essential.Southwell Golf Club has an excellent reputation for its friendly atmosphere and offers a warm welcome to visiting golfers.Responsibilities for the successful Greenkeeper include (but not limited to):To prepare and maintain all areas of the golf course and surrounds in accordance with good sports turf management guidelines and the requirements of the companyManagement of all fine turf areas as required, to ensure that they are in the best possible condition and to the highest standards of presentation at all timesForward planning to include daily, weekly, seasonal and annual tasks. All planning will be recorded along with other relevant data (weather and irrigation) that will allow analysis to identify trends and developments in the course and its conditions providing better information for future decision makingTo carryout course construction, bunker, tees, greens etc where agreed and as requiredPresentation of lawns, car park and other clubhouse areas to the highest possible standardFlower beds and hanging baskets maintenance as requiredTo keep all roadways, clear of rubbish/dirtTo ensure that all the golf course machinery and equipment is used as per the manufacturer\’s general instructionsPlease note- This role is fixed term for 12-months.
