Senior Carbon and Climate Consultant

Arup has been involved in numerous projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promoting sustainable practices. We supported the G7 Summit 2021 in achieving ISO 20121 certification and delivering a carbon-neutral event. For Queen's University Belfast, we devised a Net Zero Plan, provided decarbonisation services for Northern Ireland Water, and developed emissions monitoring tools for VisitScotland. We also collaborated with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority on an emissions pathway analysis tool. Our multidisciplinary approach allows us to tackle the most complex sustainability challenges and deliver impactful results.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Consultant in carbon management and assessment for a range of projects which might include developing Net Zero strategies and action plans; sustainability supply chain management; or impact assessment for major infrastructure and other development. Key accountabilities will include:

• Undertaking carbon assessments and providing advice on decarbonisation;
• Whole life carbon assessment for a range of infrastructure and energy projects;
• Undertaking technical reviews of others’ carbon modelling;
• Bringing knowledge to reinforce advice on carbon management to external and internal clients;
• Supporting the team in business development activities such as preparation of expressions of interest and proposals, networking and client engagement activities.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for people with the following skills:

• Bachelor or master’s qualification in a relevant field, such as Carbon and/or Climate Change Management, Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science (with appropriate and relevant knowledge).
• Appropriate chartership or working towards – e.g. Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv, CEng).
• Desirable Knowledge in carbon assessment and modelling including development of mitigation strategies.
• Appreciation of UK and/or devolved administration policy and regulatory framework for carbon and climate.
