Purpose

The MSIM Emerging Markets Debt Team is seeking a Trader in London. The individual will be responsible for achieving best execution of trades across markets. Candidates should have a demonstrated passion for Emerging markets. Strong communication skills, quantitative skills, and proven academic aptitude are a prerequisite. The Candidate must work well within a collaborative, team-based process of a trading team spread between Boston, London, and Singapore. The position entails a strong functional and conceptual understanding of complex instrument types, such as Bonds, FX, Futures, Equities, Interest Rate Swaps, Credit Default Swaps, Commodities, Total Return Swaps, Options, and other derivatives.

Training & Career Development

New hires receive training but are expected and encouraged to continue learning on-the-job. During their initial months in the role, a new hire will attend formal and informal sessions that span an array of technical and qualitative topics. Training is designed to convey the team’s core investment philosophy and goals, mapping this information to specific Trading functions and expectations. Traders are encouraged to pursue the CFA charter, learn/improve their practical understanding of programming, and strengthen their knowledge of the EM debt, equity, and FX markets.

  • Executing trades for the Emerging Markets Debt Team
  • Monitoring financial markets and news
  • Providing instrument recommendations
  • Conducting trading research on various countries, instruments, tax implications, and local regulations
  • Participating in opening of new markets with custodians and sub-custodians
  • Partnering with compliance, operations, and other teams to streamline processes
  • Applying programming skills to systematize and automate tasks

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, or other programming languages
