The London Independent Hospital in Stepney Green is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country. We have an opportunity for a Senior Pharmacy Technician to join their team of staff in the Pharmacy Department. This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern between Monday to Friday 9:00 AM and 17:00 PM and additional Saturdays on rota.
Duties of this role include:
- Provide a high standard of technical support in the preparation, dispensing, and distribution of medicines across inpatient, outpatient, and theatre areas.
- Support ward-based services such as stock top-ups, medicines reconciliation, and discharge preparation.
- Assist pharmacists in ensuring safe and effective use of medicines in line with clinical protocols and policies.
- Oversee the daily work of pharmacy technicians, assistants, and trainees, supporting task allocation and workflow management.
- Act as a role model and first point of contact for technical queries and day-to-day problem solving.
- Support the induction, training, and competency development of junior team members.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
- Significant experience in a hospital or healthcare pharmacy setting.
- Strong knowledge of medicines management, stock control, and technical pharmacy services.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff effectively.
