Salary: £72,000+

What you'll be doing:

  • Support the management of the Enterprise Architecture within the Air business with oversight of how the SDLC and enterprise repository toolset work together. Ensuring standards and topicality are maintained.
  • Work with the business and strategic IM&T programmes across the Air business unit to ensure that the requirements, design, development and deployment of IM&T based business solutions are managed in an integrated, coherent and cost effective way.
  • Developing and maintaining the Air business unit level architectural roadmaps and models, defining the current and to-be state(s) in line with planned business and technology change and obsolescence. Ensuring that this is well-defined and documented and fully incorporated into the overall Air business unit IM&T Strategy and programme.
  • Working with the other Enterprise Architects, Project Managers and project teams to adopt and implement the Air business unit Enterprise Architecture framework. Acting as a coordinating hub, identifying and helping negotiate scope, interfaces, dependencies and synergies between programmes, in order to eliminate overlap, duplication, rework and waste. Taking ownership of the overall integration plan for the process, information application and technology domains.
  • Creation of an integration strategy, approach, principals, standards and best practice as part of the overall Air business unit Enterprise Architecture framework. Gaining agreement for these from the IM&T Directors, IM&T Work package leads and Principal Architects. Working with other parts of BAE SYSTEMS to drive and adopt common standards where appropriate.

Your skills and experiences:

  • Experience of articulating and refining architectural requirements, familiarity with architectural frameworks e.g. NAF / ToGAF and development methods e.g. RUP, UML.
  • Some experience of using ArchiMate and Bizzdesign beneficial.
  • Identifying stakeholders and listening to and understanding what each wants as well as articulating and communicating a vision to them.
  • Applying in depth knowledge of integration approaches, technologies and standards (e.g. BPM, middleware, information exchange) appropriately to provide cost effective solutions to particular business problems.
  • Understanding the benefits of using enterprise architecture in a large organisation.

The Architectural Management Office team:

As an Integration Enterprise Architect, you will act as the design authority for the integration of solutions developed by strategic IM&T programmes across the Air business unit, performing design governance over the activities of the programmes and suppliers engaged in developing those solutions. You will ensure proper engagement with projects, services, functions and systems owners to ensure that the Business Solutions developed are delivered and perform in a coherent manner which best supports the Air business strategy.
