A leading UK organisation operating in a complex, high-profile environment is seeking to appoint an experienced Employee Relations Case Manager to join a high-performing team.

The Role

You will act as a trusted, independent expert managing highly sensitive and business-critical ER casework across a large, unionised, and operationally diverse organisation. With direct influence on reputational risk, cost mitigation, and legal exposure, this is a role for a professional with credibility and gravitas.

  • Lead complex case investigations, disciplinary appeals, whistleblowing matters, and executive complaints.
  • Represent the organisation in Early Conciliation and Employment Tribunal proceedings, with settlement authority at judicial mediation stages.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders including HR Directors, Group Legal, union representatives, and executive leadership.
  • Identify trends and proactively support cultural and behavioural improvements.
  • Improve line manager capability through identification of development needs and provision of feedback on an individual basis and sharing learning from cases overall with stakeholders.
  • Operate with autonomy while embedded within a highly collaborative and high-performing national team.
  • Support with project work as required, including supporting change consultations and organisational design implementation.

The Individual

The successful candidate will be a seasoned ER practitioner with:

  • In-depth knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
  • A proven track record in managing sensitive, complex, and high-stakes ER matters.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, including the ability to operate at executive level and with union representatives.
  • Effective analysis, judgement and decision-making skills.
  • Union experience.
  • Ideally CIPD Level 5 or a formal legal/employment law qualification.
