The Royal Academy of Music is a creative and vibrant workplace with a diverse mix of students and staff from over 60 countries. Many of the world’s leading musicians and performers have studied with us and we are firmly focused on developing tomorrow’s musical leaders across several disciplines, including Classical Performance, Composition, Opera, Jazz, and Musical Theatre. Integral to the musical training we offer is the opportunity to perform; in an average year, the Academy runs a vibrant programme of around 500 events.
Philanthropy plays a significant role in the life of the Academy and supports our mission to develop and educate the musicians of tomorrow. The Royal Academy of Music’s Future campaign was launched in 2022 with a target of £60m, making it the most ambitious campaign for a conservatoire outside the US. Having exceeded that target, we have now extended the Campaign to £100 million.
We are seeking an effective and organised Philanthropy Administration Officer to join and support the Donor Relations team, which sits within the Philanthropy team. Your work will support donor stewardship including gift acknowledgements, events and mailings, administering priority bookings and the Friends programme, responding to general enquiries about giving opportunities at the Academy, carrying out research projects, helping to ensure the database is up to date, assisting with the preparation of proposals and materials, administering the department budget, organising team meetings and managing office supplies.
The Philanthropy Administration Officer will be heavily involved with our ongoing campaign plans, supporting the Philanthropy team with special events, bespoke appeals and donor stewardship and organising meetings with our Philanthropy Board. The successful candidate will enjoy using their excellent administration, organisation and prioritisation skills in a busy role and have good knowledge of MS Office and experience of maintaining database systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to develop strong relationships across the Academy and with donors are also key requirements for this role.
We are looking for someone with previous experience of supporting the delivery of major projects whilst juggling a number of ongoing daily tasks, ideally within a similar HE or arts environment, along with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
