The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 £ per year.

Vivid's client in the South West is currently looking for an experienced Benefits Assessor for a minimum of 6 months with the option to be extended for a further 6 months depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately assess new claims, changes of circumstances, and reviews for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
  • Ensure compliance with current legislation, DWP guidance, and council policies.
  • Handle customer queries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
  • Liaise with other departments and external agencies including the DWP and landlords.
  • Process claims and updates using the Capita/Academy system.
  • Identify and report suspected fraud or irregularities.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance targets.

You will need to have:

  • Previous experience working as a Benefits Assessor within a local authority.
  • A strong working knowledge of Capita/Academy software.
  • Excellent understanding of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
