Vivid's client in the South West is currently looking for an experienced Benefits Assessor for a minimum of 6 months with the option to be extended for a further 6 months depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately assess new claims, changes of circumstances, and reviews for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction.
- Ensure compliance with current legislation, DWP guidance, and council policies.
- Handle customer queries via phone, email, and written correspondence.
- Liaise with other departments and external agencies including the DWP and landlords.
- Process claims and updates using the Capita/Academy system.
- Identify and report suspected fraud or irregularities.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance targets.
You will need to have:
- Previous experience working as a Benefits Assessor within a local authority.
- A strong working knowledge of Capita/Academy software.
- Excellent understanding of Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction legislation.
- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
