Are you a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer with consultancy experience and a flair for project leadership? We’re working with a respected building services consultancy in Birmingham, looking for an experienced professional to join their growing team.
In this role, you’ll take the lead on a range of mechanical design projects overseeing everything from design quality and resource planning to client relationships and financial performance. To be considered for the role, you’ll require the following essentials:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar mechanical design role within a consultancy
- Proven track record of managing project deliverables from inception through to completion
- Strong working knowledge of current building regulations, British Standards, BSRIA, and CIBSE guidance
- Confident using relevant software including AutoCAD, Hevacomp and MS Office
- Experience with MEP coordination and understanding of sustainability requirements
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with clients and internal teams
- Working towards (or already holding) CIBSE Membership is highly desirable
Within this position, you’ll also be:
- Acting as Project Lead across multiple live projects, managing timelines, finances, and client liaison
- Producing detailed mechanical design calculations for domestic services, ventilation, heating and cooling systems
- Leading the mechanical element of project teams and ensuring high design standards are met
- Coordinating with electrical design colleagues to ensure a complete and integrated MEP solution
- Attending design team meetings and reporting on progress to internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting sustainability engineers with input data and reviewing issued modelling reports
- Ensuring projects are delivered in line with internal programmes and client deadlines
- Contributing to business development and managing key client accounts
