This is a new permanent role in beautiful North West Wales with considerable opportunity to develop new and existing pathways of care for adults with complex communication, swallowing and airway disorders. The successful candidate will have highly specialist clinical skills in the assessment and management of patients presenting with tracheostomy, complex swallowing disorders, voice disorders, head and neck cancer. The ability to carry out and interpret instrumental assessments such as videofluoroscopy and FEES is highly desirable for this role. In this role you will provide Clinical Leadership, develop excellence in clinical practice, and deliver advanced clinical assessment and interventions.
You will work clinically within our Acute and Community settings, providing care to patients with altered airways, complex communication and swallowing disorders, voice disorders and head and neck cancer, providing direct clinical care to our patients across the pathway., You will work with established and developing multi-agency and inter-disciplinary teams across BCUHB and with partners to develop SLT services into new pathways that meet the needs of this population. Working up to full-time, this post will include 40% research and quality improvement and training time developing sustainable SLT services for our patients and a team with the right skills to develop the right services at the right time. There is therefore the opportunity for a hybrid working role – working remotely and directly within our localities across your working week.
You will work alongside the Leadership and Management Group of the Speech and Language Therapy department in the West area of BCUHB, with service wide responsibility for specified projects. Experience and demonstrable skills in change management and compassionate leadership are essential for this role.
You will be part of the friendly and supportive Adult SLT team where there is a wide range of expertise and experience. There is excellent peer support and regular clinical supervision, monthly team meetings and regular cross team CPD and training opportunities. There is access to regular therapist-led and MDT clinics including VF.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
