An ambitious and newly established law firm is seeking a highly experienced Business Recovery and Insolvency Partner to lead its Business Recovery and Insolvency Department. The firm specialises in financial services, property, corporate recovery, and litigation, with a strong focus on distressed property transactions, bridging finance, and sales by insolvency office holders and receivers.

As Head of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Department, you will play a pivotal leadership role, driving the department’s growth, developing strategy, and delivering expert advice to a broad range of clients including insolvency practitioners, lenders, and business owners. Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the Business Recovery and Insolvency Department, including mentoring junior lawyers and overseeing support staff
  • Develop and execute departmental strategy for growth and success
  • Advise insolvency practitioners and clients on administration, liquidation, receivership, restructuring, and distressed asset transactions
  • Handle high-value contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters from instruction through to resolution
  • Represent clients in litigation, negotiation, and dispute resolution
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships through commercial, solution-driven advice
  • Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with evolving insolvency legislation
  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g. property, litigation, lending) to provide comprehensive legal support
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, training, and continuous professional development
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with extensive experience in corporate recovery and insolvency law
  • Strong track record in both contentious and non-contentious insolvency work
  • Effective leader with the ability to develop, manage, and inspire a growing team
  • Excellent technical, drafting, and advocacy skills
  • Ability to handle complex matters while maintaining commercial focus
  • Excellent interpersonal and client relationship-building skills
  • Strategic, forward-thinking mindset with a proactive and hands-on approach
  • Experience working on distressed real estate or transactions involving receivers preferred, but not essential
  • Existing client base not essential, but welcomed
