Are you passionate about animal care and scientific research? We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Animal Technician to join our clients in vivo team. This is a hands-on role supporting both routine animal husbandry and essential administrative tasks associated with laboratory experiments. You'll be part of a collaborative and supportive team in a highly regulated research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily care and husbandry of laboratory animals (primarily rodents), ensuring high welfare standards.
- Generate experimental documentation including study logs, folders, cage cards, and sample labels.
- Support Home Office record keeping in line with regulatory requirements.
- Assist with cage cleaning, facility sanitation, and preparation of consumables and equipment.
- Perform health checks upon animal delivery (depending on competency level).
- Ensure accurate record-keeping and archiving of study samples and documentation.
- Maintain personal training records and uphold standards defined by the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.
What We’re Looking For
- Basic knowledge of animal handling and welfare, ideally under ASPA guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work unsupervised.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- Flexible attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience in animal husbandry or a related scientific/technical background is desirable.
- Qualifications such as GCSEs or BTEC National Diploma in science or animal-related topics preferred.
