Why choose our Client?

Our client is a popular, family-owned pub set in the heart of a South Devon village. Owned by the neighbouring hotel, this food-led pub has been awarded 1 AA Rosette for its delicious gastropub dishes, which are all prepared using fresh ingredients.

Open for both lunch and dinner, the pub attracts both hotel residents and non-residents alike and has a popular following. You can expect to cater for an average of 70-80 covers on a typical lunch during holidays and the summer months, which increases to approximately 100 covers at dinnertime. During the winter months, you can expect to cater for 10-30 covers at lunchtime, rising to 30-40 covers at dinnertime. Weekends are busy year-round, with Sunday lunches serving anything above 80 covers every week.

What's involved?

Our client is looking for a passionate and skilled Sous Chef to join the friendly team at this busy food-led pub. Working as part of a well-established kitchen team, you will create delicious dishes at lunch and dinner to both residents and non-residents alike, using the freshest ingredients. Working closely with the Head Chef, you will assist in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, taking charge in their absence, providing guidance and motivation to junior members of the team. You will assist with the creation of new dishes and the development of new menus and contribute to any training needs within the team.

Good communication skills are essential for this role, as well as having the ability to stay calm under pressure. The successful Sous Chef will have previous experience of working to a 1 AA Rosette standard (or something just as impressive!) and must have the ability to remain calm and organised whilst working in a fast-paced, pressurised environment. You will be passionate about working with high-quality, fresh ingredients and delivering guests with the best dining experience possible. This role would be suited to someone with existing Sous Chef experience or someone looking to take the next exciting step up in their career!

If you're ready to bring your culinary talents to a vibrant team and enjoy the good life in Devon, we want to hear from you!
