Our client is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Research Associate to join their dynamic team! This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge seed production methods and contribute to a sustainable future.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out day-to-day production and maintenance of plant and seed materials, ensuring they meet customer requirements with precision.
- Highlight problems and challenges promptly to ensure seamless operations.
- Work independently and collaboratively on experimental tasks using both established and novel screening methods.
- Maintain plants under glasshouse conditions for the duration of testing, ensuring optimal growth and health.
- Liaise with the Technical Support Team to deliver exceptional customer support and satisfaction.
- Develop your technical knowledge through hands-on experience with a variety of production techniques.
- Identify areas for improvement in efficiency and actively engage in problem-solving with team members and supervisors.
- Keep accurate records and maintain current databases to track progress and results.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by contributing to enhancements in screening methods and processes.
- Uphold safety standards by maintaining a clean, safe working environment and adhering to all safety procedures and HSE regulations.
- Ensure compliance with DEFRA, CBD, QMS, and HSE regulations regarding genetically modified organisms and licenced plant materials.
What You Bring:
- A general knowledge of plant biology, with a preference for experience in seed production and horticultural techniques.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programmes.
- Strong analytical, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented mindset with excellent communication abilities.
- Agility in learning new tasks, with a self-starter attitude and a collaborative spirit.
- Exceptional self-motivation, self-management, and time management skills.
- HND level in Horticulture or at least 2 years of experience in horticulture or seed supply.
