About Our Client
Our client is a global ecommerce retailer specialising in technical sports and leisure products across multiple markets. Based in Essex, they are seeking a passionate Brand Buyer to join their dynamic team. Reporting to the Buying & Merchandising Director, you will play a key role in realising commercial opportunities across all channels and markets.
Purpose of the Role
Managing the complete product lifecycle, you will execute business strategy to deliver sales and profit plans through excellent product knowledge, strong commercial acumen, and understanding of competitor and consumer trends. Working closely with Merchandising, Ecommerce & Marketing teams, you will be responsible for range selection and have direct impact on how products are sold to fulfil customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Trading
- Drive sales & profit growth through successful buying and proactive trading across all channels, utilising analytics data to add context to performance.
- Use all available sources including sales and margin data and competitor knowledge to identify risks and opportunities.
- Ensure competitive pricing within market and react quickly to price adjustments.
- Planning
- Support senior management to create product and brand strategies.
- Identify opportunities to grow market share in existing markets and incremental revenue in new markets.
- Stock Management
- Work closely with internal Merchandising and Operations teams and external brand partners to ensure timely delivery and maintain optimum availability.
- Identify slow selling lines and proactively drive sales through added value or promotional activity.
- Range Building
- Deliver cohesive and balanced ranges within planned budgets and manage Open-to-Buy according to trading performance and trends.
- Utilise current and historical sales data, market trends and brand insight to build seasonal ranges.
- Actively seek new initiatives, brand, category and product opportunities.
- Team Development
- Manage team effectively, setting clear direction and objectives.
- Provide support, feedback and development opportunities.
- Coach and mentor team members to realise their potential.
- Relationships
- Build cross-divisional working relationships and external networks.
- Challenge working practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Marketing & Ecommerce
- Drive impactful campaigns with customer-relevant products and messaging.
- Ensure all activity aligns with brand messaging and tone of voice.
- Review product listings for accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee trading calendar and maintain activity details.

- Previous ecommerce trading experience.
- Passion for retail with strong commercial acumen.

- Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
