We are seeking TWO talented Data Business Analysts to join our team and work across the Thames Water divisions to proactively understand and catalogue the demand for data solutions. You will play a key role with an emphasis on the ability to collect specific and tangible data requirements from early concept to full description, producing user stories, and collaborating with data engineers and other data professionals. What you’ll be doing as a Data Business Analyst:
- Capture and document data requirements from internal stakeholders based on requests submitted through the "data front door" project request form.
- Translate high-level concepts into user stories and task breakdowns to ensure clarity and actionable steps.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and ensure requirements align with business objectives.
- Act as an Agile Product Owner, creating a vision to inspire development teams to deliver high-quality, reusable deliverables.
- Participate in technical and functional discussions to align data initiatives with business needs.
- Communicate with internal colleagues to understand departmental and organisational data needs.
- Work with stakeholders to gather feedback on data services and products, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Support the assignment and manage tasks across data squads, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of data solutions.
Base location: Hybrid – Clear Water Court
Working pattern: Monday to Friday, 36 hours
What you should bring to the role:
- Proven experience as a Data Business Analyst or in a similar role, managing data-centric projects.
- Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies and acting as a Product Owner.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in creating and maintaining documentation, such as project documentation.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience in data mapping, requirements elicitation, and workshop facilitation to effectively gather and document business requirements.
- Desirable experience with SAP, Salesforce, Azure, ESRI, GIS, and Databricks, to provide comprehensive data analysis across various business functions.
