As a Production Engineer, you will enable the efficient manufacture of components while continually optimising manufacturing processes. Your expertise in product design, materials, and production equipment capabilities will drive the development and improvement of manufacturing fixtures to meet production demands.
Principal Responsibilities:- Ensure all work is conducted to meet Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
- Review and implement optimised manufacturing methods that align with quality, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Lead new product introductions by developing repeatable, reliable jigs and fixtures.
- Review customer specifications and quality requirements, ensuring they are embedded in all activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by proposing innovative ideas to enhance operations.
- Support first article inspections and implement necessary fixture design changes.
- Develop and document Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enable efficient, repeatable production.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction, waste elimination, and process optimisation using lean manufacturing practices.
- Collaborate with subcontractors to design, manufacture, and expedite optimised tooling.
- Investigate and resolve customer and internal non-conformance issues, incorporating corrective actions into future projects.
- Coach and support operators to improve department knowledge in lean practices, including 5S and SMED.
- Work alongside Engineering and Production teams to ensure effective implementation of Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) processes.
- A minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience.
- HNC or equivalent qualification in an engineering-related field.
- Proven experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
- High-level manufacturing knowledge with practical problem-solving skills.
- Strong ability to interpret complex technical drawings.
- Excellent customer focus and budgetary awareness.
- Highly organised with the ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively.
