Our SMAS (SSIP) accredited client specialise in the provision of Construction Health & Safety and design risk management Consultancy advice to some of the biggest names in the UK. As a result of continued success and an ongoing planned program of strategic expansion, they are now seeking to recruit an articulate, dynamic and highly self-motivated and experienced CDM Consultant to complement their established and successful CDM team providing Principal Designer (CDM) and Client CDM assurance services under the CDM 2015 Regulations.
Based in Birmingham with flexibility for home working, the successful CDM Consultant will be responsible for providing specialist health, safety and construction design risk management consultancy services to clients across the country, conducting site visits and inspections, developing risk management strategies, preparing CDM documentation, and liaising with clients to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.
As CDM Consultant, you will be tasked with providing support and services to an established existing client base throughout the UK across all phases of the design and construction lifecycle on a range of challenging projects. You will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects with an understanding of key hazards typical to building and engineering projects in this sector, and will be comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a wider team in an often pressurised environment.
You will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels and be able to work effectively with both internal and external project stakeholders to ensure Health and Safety issues are properly addressed and managed throughout the project lifecycle. You will be comfortable in liaising at Director and MD level with blue chip organisations and developing future work with these high level relationships whilst providing attractive fee proposals and agreeing legal documentation on behalf of the client.
The role necessitates an in-depth understanding of design and construction processes and the ability to communicate effectively. Essentially, you will possess a clear understanding of the legal requirements of the CDM 2015 Regulations, and you will be required to make Clients aware of their duties, collate Pre Construction Information and identify how any information gaps will be resolved in a timely manner to ensure sufficient consideration of health and safety issues and carry out H&S specific design reviews throughout the design and construction phases of a project.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least degree level (or equivalent) in a construction design risk management related discipline and be professionally qualified with an additional Health and Safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate, IOSH, appropriate Membership of APS or ICE H&S Register). Additionally, you will ideally possess at least 3 years previous experience in a commercial design or construction health and safety consultancy and demonstrate a high level of proficiency on CDM 2015 regulations and Principal Designer positions.
