As Commodity Manager you will be responsible for managing procurement expenditure and product-related services, including the development of strategic relationships with existing, former, and future suppliers. This role entails operating at a management level with a high degree of autonomy, whilst managing, mentoring, and developing an effective Commodity Team response globally, delivering cost-effective solutions for our Cargo sites. You will define and own the capability, strategy, and operational excellence of your assigned commodities, develop key innovation sourcing activities, promote risk-aware sustainable procurement, enhance the capability of the Procurement teams, and promote the Procurement function internally and externally.
Responsibilities
- Ensure an effective sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service, and technology of our current and future offers.
- Identify new product development opportunities and seek ways to automate & simplify manual processes to improve productivity.
- Be a key member of the NPD/NPI team supporting the product roadmap to deliver an efficient supply chain for future sourcing requirements.
- Maintain expertise/knowledge of market trends, including a comprehensive review of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements, and competition landscape.
- Leverage the Global Commodity team for specialist assistance where needed.
- Proactively address supply chain impacts and obsolescence issues.
- Support multi-site procurement projects.
- Manage KPIs to ensure quality and delivery standards are fully maintained.
- Lead, motivate, support, and develop your procurement team members in Strategic Procurement.
- Drive efforts concerning supply base rationalization and supplier development.
- Ensure leveraging synergies across the OSI Systems procurement groups.
- Ensure the cost, quality, and time-oriented supply of all required products and services in line with business plans, budgets, targets, and strategies.
- Contract negotiation covering cost, quality, delivery, cash, compliance, and adherence to business standard contracting terms and conditions.
- Act as POC for resolution in the event of non-performance to contractual terms.
- Ensure regular internal and external strategic reviews involving all senior key stakeholders.
- Manage new supplier sourcing and selection, ensuring a value-based relationship and proposition.
- Support make or buy decisions and prepare data for relevant commodity gate reviews.
- Work within documented procurement/planning systems that comply with ISO guidelines.
Qualifications
- You will be a creative person who loves products, solving difficult problems, and getting things done.
- Experience in procurement and supply chain management processes, including quality management, financial analysis, and contract negotiations.
- Bachelor's Degree in business administration or Supply Chain preferred, or 8-10 years of sourcing experience in lieu of a degree.
- Commodities purchasing experience in IT, electrical/electronic control & automation, mechanical, and fabrication.
- Operations experience in procurement/materials/inventory management is a plus.
- MCIPS / APICS membership, equivalent, or qualified by experience.
- Experience in negotiation and supplier relationship management.
- A proven track record in achieving cost reduction in purchased parts and/or services.
- Proven ability to work well with others at all organizational levels and participate in cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Intermediate to proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel.
- Experienced and proficient user of MRP/ERP software (Microsoft Navision / D365 Dynamics is a clear advantage).
- Experience with Agile PLM.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, cost drivers, and supply market dynamics.
- Knowledge of ISO quality assurance methods.
