My client based in London is seeking a Data Protection Manager / Consultant to join their team for a permanent role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Protection & Privacy: Oversee data protection and privacy rules. Identify, assess, and manage data and cyber risks. Report data breaches and ensure compliance with the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office).
- General Responsibilities: Ensure data protection and privacy rules are followed. Manage operational risks and ensure they are identified and controlled. Oversee relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure they meet standards. Follow data governance policies, especially for sensitive or personal data.
- Specific Responsibilities: Advise senior management and staff on data protection laws (like GDPR). Monitor compliance with data protection laws, conduct audits, and train staff. Be the main contact for the ICO and individuals whose data is processed. Keep records to prove compliance with data protection laws. Support teams to ensure data policies are followed and monitor their effectiveness. Oversee cyber risks related to personal data. Manage relationships with the ICO and handle regulatory notifications. Identify, assess, and manage privacy risks. Develop and maintain policies like data retention, privacy notices, and accountability frameworks. Analyse and report on privacy risks to senior management. Monitor processes for data protection, including handling data breaches and access requests. Advise senior leaders and the board on improvements needed to meet compliance.
