Are you an experienced Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a hands-on engineer with expertise in mechanical and electrical design to join a dynamic team specialising in low and medium voltage switchgear. This role offers the chance to design, develop, and optimize cutting-edge electromechanical systems, supporting new product development and technical improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop low and medium voltage switchgear from feasibility to production.
- Utilize 2D/3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) for detailed design and assembly.
- Conduct design for manufacture analysis, including DFMEA and functional reviews.
- Provide technical support, including customer site visits for investigations and maintenance.
- Assist in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, risk management, and IEC/BS EN regulations.
Skills & Experience Required:
Essential:
- Strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering (HNC or equivalent).
- 3D CAD proficiency (SolidWorks preferred).
- Understanding of risk management, material properties, and structured engineering processes.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of switchgear, railway overhead line equipment, or mechanical interlock systems.
- Experience with static/dynamic simulation tools, thermoplastic moulding, or dielectric performance.
- Familiarity with IEC 62271-1, BS EN 50123-1 standards.
