We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Bars Manager to lead our bar team at The Groucho Club. You’ll bring confident floor presence, a deep knowledge of drinks and service, and a passion for creating exceptional member experiences. Strong leadership skills are essential, as you’ll be responsible for maintaining consistency, driving team engagement, and delivering high performance across the bars' operation. A key part of the role will be training and developing the team to ensure high standards, product knowledge, and confident service. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment and leads by example.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Making sure the bar team is fully motivated, happy and guest and customer experience focused at all times;
- Provide monthly 1-2-1s with bar staff to coach and develop;
- Ensure that bar floor staff are well trained for their positions and have a thorough understanding of the duties associated with their jobs;
- Recruitment of all bar staff;
- Training of new and existing members of staff, to ensure that the customer service standards are exceptional at all times;
- To promote up selling and to drive sales through advising customers on their choices of drinks and food;
- Organising and preparing for each shift ensuring that all areas fully stocked and in accordance with relevant SOP;
- Ensure the smooth service in the bars by organising the staff and arranging staff breaks;
- Ensure clear and helpful communication with the kitchen at all times;
- Ensure all bills are run under a members name, awareness of the general profile reports;
- Understand and settle comp, waste, allowance and hosting bills;
- Helping with staff rotas by checking and confirming staff hours on Harri.
What Makes You a Great Fit
- Have at least 2+ years’ experience working as an Assistant Bar Manager or Bar Manager in a busy environment or private members' club;
- Proven track record in training and developing a team;
- Complete working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages;
- Knowledge of business management principles and practices;
- Sound understanding of cost and stock control procedures;
- Upbeat and energetic personality;
- Needs to be polished, enthusiastic and work to high standards;
- Work in a professional yet friendly manner;
- Have good communication skills and be able to liaise with the team;

- Excellent attention to detail.
