This role is responsible for monitoring and controlling the cost and spend of various designated projects or workstreams within a designated programme. You will manage the financial and commercial responsibilities for multiple designated projects, delivering timely and accurate financial information and guidance to the project management team. You will ensure all team members remain fully informed of their financial status while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with the customer commercial team. Additionally, you will coordinate closely with project teams to track progress, accurately forecast sales and costs based on gathered data, and cultivate positive, professional relationships with project managers and commercial stakeholders.
What you’ll do:
- Internal & external reporting and processing applications for payment from the client.
- Taking responsibility for the tracking and forecasting of all costs within the project, including challenging operational staff as to their expenditure, reallocating costs to correct cost codes and chairing forecast meetings.
- Build awareness of all costs being incurred on project to ensure full recovery in Applications for Payment.
- Liaise with Client organisation to provide any further substantiation and agree the Application for Payments.
- Produce payment applications / change requests / customer letters.
- Manage & analyse project costs from Oracle – Interrogate the data.
- Keep accurate records and an audit trail - UCM.
- Complete Oracle set-up forms and CF53 for new projects.
Who you are:
As an ideal candidate, you are detail-oriented and highly organized, with a strong understanding of financial and commercial processes within project environments. You possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and build lasting relationships with both internal stakeholders and customers. You are proactive in identifying potential financial risks and opportunities, with a proven ability to analyse data and provide insightful forecasts. Your ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism makes you an asset in driving project success and ensuring financial transparency.
Key Requirements:
- BSc Finance related degree preferred.
- Good working knowledge and use of a financing administration system.
- Demonstrable experience of using a company finance system, ideally (but not necessarily) Oracle.
- Proven experience of working within a financial/commercial or cost control function of a contracting organisation.
- Proven experience of providing financial and commercial support to projects of circa £310M+.
- Demonstrable experience of using an Oracle finance system.
- Prevailing financial and CDM regulations awareness.
