I am currently recruiting for a versatile Multi-Skilled Mechanical Engineer to join my client's established team. The core purpose of this role is to undertake both planned and reactive maintenance across a broad spectrum of Mechanical and Electrical Building Services plant. You'll be instrumental in ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and precisely, adhering to contracted output specifications and established operational procedures. This notably covers Legionella control and monitoring, and you'll also apply essential basic plumbing skills.
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure all routine PPM is diligently performed on mechanical and electrical plant, in line with site schedules and the CAFM system.
- Complete reactive maintenance tasks throughout the sites, proactively identifying areas for operational enhancement.
- Ensure the availability of suitable spares for maintenance and reactive works; provide comprehensive parts lists and estimated timescales for remedial actions.
- Ensure all relevant paperwork and CAFM updates concerning PPM, reactive, and breakdown works are accurately completed and submitted without delay.
- Maintain a Safe and Healthy working environment, consistently wearing uniform and PPE.
- Ensure all plant logs are kept meticulously up-to-date and that designated plant rooms are clean and well-organised.
- Demonstrate flexibility in working patterns, including providing short-notice cover for holidays and sickness.
- Ensure all assigned tasks are promptly actioned and completed.
- Keep the CAFM system (e.g., Maximo) current, ensuring PPM and reactive tickets are accurately closed out with precise data.
- Operate a Permit to Work System in accordance with technical and SHEQ processes and client requirements.
- Oversee adherence to Planned and Reactive tasks.
Client Interaction & Compliance:
- Respond promptly to client requests, both verbal and written; assist in coordinating and producing information for quotations.
- Provide support to the Helpdesk when reporting or updating planned and reactive maintenance.
- Be available for out-of-hours call-out support.
- Obtain necessary Technical Appointments (e.g., LVCP/LVAP/Mechanical /Pressure CP).
- Generate Condition / Dilapidation Reports as required.
- Immediately alert the supervisor to any dangerous circumstances.
- Comply with SHEQ requests; adhere strictly to company health and safety policy; ensure PPE is safe to use; report accidents and near misses in a timely manner; verify test equipment calibration; follow Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all works.
Role Scope & Desired Attributes:
- Perform Mechanical Engineering tasks.
- Contribute to the adherence to company quality standards, including compliance with specifications and workmanship schedules.
- Maintain and care for all company tools; wear appropriate uniform; ensure work areas are left clean and tidy.
- Responsible for the company van in accordance with policy.
- Assist with material coordination; ensure accurate/timely completion of site-based documentation.
- This role generally encompasses fault finding, minor repairs, and installation alongside general maintenance services.
- Support other engineers and operatives in the region, liaising effectively to minimise disruption.
- While the role is primarily Mechanical biased, there will be a need to integrate with the wider team and undertake the full spectrum of FM maintenance activities when required.
Desired:
- Around 5 years of relevant experience working as a Mechanical Engineer within a Facilities Management environment.
- City and Guilds - Mechanical Engineering Services NVQ Level 2 or higher.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff.
- Current and Valid Full & Clean UK driving license.
