As part of the West Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), Locality Teams provide an assessment and social work service to vulnerable adults affected by various disabilities, addictions, mental and physical health conditions of all ages and their families.

West Lothian is a progressive council and following extensive restructuring and modernisation these are new posts in new multi-disciplinary locality teams, working alongside a range of Health professionals to deliver an integrated approach to service delivery to the people of West Lothian.

This is an interesting and challenging opportunity for an enthusiastic person to work with individuals with a range of complex needs. Candidates should ideally have experience of working with younger or older people client groups. The successful candidates will have an ability to work as part of a team, respond to demands of a busy service, be able to follow procedure, have excellent communication and report writing skills.

These tasks will be carried out in partnership with service users, family members, social work colleagues and other professionals and agencies.

The posts require a good understanding of self-directed support and outcome focused assessments. You will also undertake crisis work and Adult Support & Protection investigations in accordance with service standards.

A professional Social Work qualification is essential. This position requires registration with the SSSC. The successful candidate will have six months from the date of commencement of this post to become registered with the SSSC. SSSC stipulate you must submit your application within three months of your start date. If you are already registered with SSSC you will be required to add West Lothian Council to your account.

This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council.
