FT Recruitment Group are recruiting on behalf of our client for an Operations Coordinator based in Aberdeen on a Permanent, Full Time basis. Working with a leading marine services company, the role will be responsible for the execution, implementation, and supervision of commercial contracts, time charters, and spot voyages for vessels under our client’s commercial management, with a focus on maximizing voyage performance.

Main duties include:

  • Execute and supervise assigned commercial contracts, time charters, and spot voyages.
  • Serve as daily operational contact for shipowners, managers, and assigned vessels.
  • Ensure vessels comply with all charter party obligations and take corrective action when needed.
  • Monitor vessel performance, voyage profitability, and contract compliance.
  • Administer hire/freight invoicing, expenses, claims, and voyage reporting into the operational system.
  • Appoint agents, order bunkers, and instruct vessels in line with procedures.
  • Handle performance, off-hire issues, and charter hire invoicing for time/bareboat charters.
  • Prepare laytime and demurrage calculations.
  • Visit assigned vessels annually when cost-effective and brief/debrief Masters.
  • Ensure strong customer relations and lead operational review meetings.
  • Generate reports and analytics to support operational decision-making.
  • Maintain voyage accounts, administration and reporting to measure effectiveness of vessel.
  • Handle customer complaints professionally, involving Legal and other departments as needed.

Suitable candidates should have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree / Higher Vocational Education in maritime studies or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a maritime commercial role or seagoing experience as a deck officer.
  • Strong operational and contractual understanding of commercial shipping.
  • Strong problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer focused approach, with the ability to understand client needs and deliver tailored service solutions.
  • Adaptable & Assertive - flexible under pressure with the confidence to make decisions quickly.
  • IT proficient, comfortable with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and voyage admin systems.

Candidates should be based locally to Aberdeen, and must hold the Right to Work in the UK.
