Our public sector client are looking for an Area Supervisor to join them.
Location: Mainly Bardon site, with travel across RHWSs and WTSs
Hours: 37-40 hours/week across 7 days (weekend work required at least 1 in 3); overtime likely
About the Role: We're looking for two proactive Area Supervisors to support site operations and promote reuse and recycling, reducing waste sent to landfill. One role will replace a recent leaver; the other will focus on REUSE initiatives at the sites. This is a hands-on, field-based supervisory role with limited hybrid work. You'll liaise with contractors, train and support site staff, ensure compliance with health and safety and operational procedures, and handle routine HR tasks (e.g., onboarding, return-to-work meetings). Occasional driving of a 3.5t Council van is required.
Key Duties:
- Promote and support material reuse across sites
- Supervise and train site staff
- Enforce safe systems of work and operational procedures
- Handle low-level customer complaints
- Monitor PPE, uniform, and Body Worn Camera usage
- Maintain accurate records for waste and QMS compliance
Requirements:
Essential:
- Strong IT, literacy, and numeracy skills
- Excellent communication and customer service
- Supervisory and training experience
- Full UK driving licence (3.5t), own vehicle, business-use insurance
Desirable:
- Certificate of Technical Competence
- Experience driving 3.5t vehicles
Mileage: Base location for mileage claims will be your nearest RHWS (excluding Whetstone), likely one of: Barwell, Coalville, Loughborough, Market Harborough, Melton, Mountsorrel, or Oadby.
