An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our Environmental Education Centre Team at Lancashire Renewables Ltd.

The Visitor Engagement Officer will manage a small team in coordinating, facilitating and leading Eco Town walkway visits for both children and adults. You could be leading up to two tours per day, lasting approximately two hours, guiding visitors along our interactive walkway.

You will be responsible for delivering engaging, informative and safe experiences that reflect the requirements of the service. You will also engage with schools and external organisations to promote educational tours and deal with any enquiries. Additionally, you will support the facilities management and general administrative tasks within the Business & Finance Department.

Eco Town offers an engaging experience designed to educate visitors on environmental protection, waste minimisation, recycling, and waste management processes and treatment. Our informative walkway experience allows students and visitors to observe the inner workings of the recycling facility through viewing galleries, complemented by a range of interactive and educational games throughout the route.

What you will bring

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to be a strong administrator with experience leading and coordinating a small team. Ideally, you will have experience working with children and adults in group settings.

  • Leadership skills with the ability to guide and direct a team effectively, ensuring tasks are completed within specified timescales.
  • Proven ability to line manage people and workflows.
  • Experience of coordinating workshops and events with the ability to manage calendars, schedules and logistics for events.
  • Previous experience of giving tours, leading field trips or managing group activities for children & adults.
  • Confident public speaker and effective communicator.
  • Customer service skills with a focus on meeting the needs of stakeholders.
  • Microsoft Office skills (intermediate excel and word skills essential).
  • Business systems knowledge and general computer skills.
  • First Aid and Emergency Response Certification (or willingness to obtain).

Who are we? Lancashire Renewables Ltd was established for the operation and management of the two waste treatment facilities built for the Lancashire Waste Contract. Our two facilities in Thornton and Leyland are manned 365 days a year. Both sites can process over 5,000 tonnes of residual (black bin bag) waste per week and divert 95% of this material away from landfill. Our aim is to achieve a sustainable future for Lancashire by providing services to process biodegradable and non-biodegradable community waste and our people are vital in helping us achieve this.
