An organisation who have grown exponentially over the past decade, and looking to grow again significantly over the next 5 years, are at a relatively early stage of their Data journey and are looking for a Data Lead to join them and create a robust Data Facility.
The Data Lead will drive the development of the organisation’s data capabilities, managing a growing team and overseeing the design, delivery, and governance of data infrastructure, pipelines, and analytics solutions. This role sets and executes the data vision across the business, ensuring timely, accurate, and actionable insights through collaboration, best practices, and strong leadership.
They will manage and mentor the Data Team, define the data infrastructure roadmap, and champion a data-first culture—promoting data literacy, self-service, and alignment with business priorities. The role includes overseeing the development and optimisation of scalable data pipelines, translating business needs into effective data models, and maintaining a robust reporting environment using tools such as Power BI.
The Data Lead will ensure consistency and quality of data across systems, maintain and evolve Azure-based architecture and integrations, and lead automation efforts to increase efficiency. Monitoring platform usage and cost, addressing complex data issues, and promoting documentation and knowledge sharing are also key responsibilities. The role requires regular engagement with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to support decision-making and insight delivery.
Requirements:
- Candidates will ideally have experience leading data teams and cross-functional projects, with a strong background in data engineering, analytics, or architecture.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential, along with expertise in Microsoft Azure (Data Lakes, Blob Storage), Databricks, and modern data tooling.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are vital.
Desirable:
- Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate certification and knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance.
