Corporate GIS Officer
- Job Type: Full-time, Temporary
- Location: Primarily home-based with periodic office visits required, WF1 Wakefield
- Salary: £19.66 PAYE per hour (Umbrella rate available)
We are seeking a Corporate GIS Officer to join our team on a temporary basis to support our GIS operations during a period of restructuring. This role is critical in maintaining and enhancing our corporate GIS and LLPG/LSG Gazetteers services. The successful candidate will focus on supporting the creation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of spatial data using Mapinfo, and supporting integrations with our corporate GIS systems, IDOX Location Manager, and Spectrum Spatial Analyst.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Actively manage and develop the Council’s GIS system and broader mapping arrangements to support strategic and operational presentation and interpretation of information.
- Collate and analyse geographic information from various sources to provide appropriate outputs (maps and visual representation of data) for a broad range of customers as part of the corporate GIS service.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Council and Partnership business intelligence frameworks through the management, development, and delivery of a high standard, value for money, corporate GIS function.
- Deliver effective business intelligence, including the development of reporting and analytical systems and reports to support the achievement of Council and Partnership priorities.
- Document all key responsibilities and tasks to ensure continuity and efficiency in GIS support.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree or equivalent qualification, or demonstrable equivalent level of knowledge and skill gained through extensive experience in a similar role.
- Detailed theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of GIS concepts and map-related systems.
- Proficiency in MapInfo, Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and SQL reporting.
- Experience with Local Land & Property Gazetteer (LLPG)/Local Street Gazetteer (LSG) maintenance software.
- Substantial experience in providing expert advice on GIS and the accurate presentation of business intelligence.
- Knowledge of the Mapping Services Agreement set by the IDeA & standards set for GIS data capture BS7666.
- Understanding of Council services and external dependent organisations and utilities that require the use of GIS address data.
