Jacobs has secured multiple multi-year Frameworks and Projects with leading Clients in the UK, Ireland and across the Globe. Our Water and Environment team is looking for skilled and highly motivated people that are looking to grow their careers in exciting new ways to deliver on these fantastic opportunities in the Water Industry and beyond. Successful candidates will join our team of nearly 600 water professionals, who work on a range of high-profile projects. You could be delivering project tasks, designs and in a multi-disciplinary, multi-company environment on water and wastewater infrastructure and facilities at various stages in the project life cycle, working within our multi-disciplinary teams to deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budget.
The Water Europe Technical Delivery Leadership has identified the need to identify a new Senior Associate Director for Electrical & Instrumentation, Control and Automation (E&ICA) Engineering. E&ICA engineers within our Regulated Water team provide the technical E&ICA design within the multi-disciplinary design process, in such a manner that Jacobs consistently achieves class leading levels of design. At a more quantitative level, the Lead E&ICA engineer on a project works closely with the Design Manager and other Discipline Leads to ensure that deliverables (both internal and external) are delivered accurately on time and in the most efficient manner possible. E&ICA engineers in Water are dispersed across our offices and client locations.
We are looking for a passionate and driven Leader who demonstrates an appreciation of the E&ICA Engineering technical area, with a particular talent for bringing people together for knowledge sharing. You will have a strategic mindset and relish an opportunity to challenge the status quo and embed new and innovative ways of thinking driving efficiency in delivery to the highest standards. This is a key role which is part of the Water Europe Technical Leadership team.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Provide leadership within the E&ICA discipline, working with the senior members of the E&ICA discipline as well as senior members of other Disciplines and form relationships with the wider Water & Environment business and beyond.
- Providing E&ICA technical governance across a wide range of projects spanning the Water / Wastewater industry with support from discipline Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Support the technical delivery teams with project challenges and opportunities, with support from discipline Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Support resource leads to identify the most appropriate resources to work on all pursuits and projects.
- Attract and retain the best talent in the industry to meet business needs by anticipating future technical requirements.
- Develop our people, direct training and provide opportunities for fulfilling careers for our staff.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and encourage the personal and professional development of E&ICA engineers leading to Professional Registration primarily with Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) but supporting those pursuing other routes to professional qualifications.
- Monitor external technical developments, particularly changes in legislation and regulatory requirements, and action appropriately.
- Ensure the ongoing development of the E&ICA engineering hub in the Water Europe Hub (in MS Teams) by supporting the hub lead to improve the discipline profile and enhance accessibility of guidance and technical information.
- A good appreciation of the breadth of technical areas across Regulated Water.
- Good interpersonal skills to enable the development of effective relationships with the other Discipline leads and to communicate effectively with the discipline team.
- Well-rounded technical credibility evidenced through experience and peer recognition.
- Good leadership and management skills with the ability to provide clear instructions, motivate and inspire others to deliver the aims of the discipline plan and wider Regulated Water strategy.
- The ability to develop and articulate the strategic aims for Jacobs and delivery of technical excellence for Regulated Water.
