A leading and well-funded biotechnology company based in the Cambridge area is seeking a Director of Bioinformatics to spearhead the development of a cutting-edge computational biology platform. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead the full-scale buildout of a bioinformatics function at the forefront of biologics discovery.
The Opportunity
This hands-on leadership role is ideal for someone passionate about the application of AI and structure-guided design to therapeutic antibody engineering. You will be instrumental in shaping the computational strategy from the ground up, with significant creative freedom, and will collaborate closely with internal R&D and selected CROs.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full-scale buildout of the company's bioinformatics infrastructure.
- Develop and implement AI-driven approaches to therapeutic biologics design.
- Drive collaboration across cross-functional teams and external research partners.
- Take ownership of CRO selection and partnership management.
- Contribute to team expansion by hiring and mentoring junior staff.
About You
- PhD (or equivalent industry experience) in Computational Biology, Structural Bioinformatics, Protein Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience with protein structure modelling, antibody engineering, or biologics design.
- Proficiency with Python, R, and modern bioinformatics/ML tools.
- Strong track record in applying generative models (e.g. AlphaFold, RFdiffusion).
- Demonstrated leadership capability and a desire to remain hands-on.
- Experience working with biologics is essential.
