This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK\’s leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.Job DescriptionNLP / LLM Scientist – Applied AI ML Senior Associate – Machine Learning Centre of ExcellenceThe Machine Learning Center of Excellence invites applications for a role focused on applying sophisticated machine learning methods to complex tasks such as natural language processing, speech analytics, time series, reinforcement learning, and recommendation systems.The ideal candidate will excel in a highly collaborative environment, working with business teams, technologists, and control partners to deploy solutions into production. A strong passion for machine learning, along with dedication to continuous learning, research, and experimentation, is essential. Hands-on expertise in Deep Learning, analytical thinking, motivation, and a desire to innovate are also required.Job ResponsibilitiesResearch and explore new machine learning methods through independent study, industry conferences, experimentation, and knowledge sharing.Develop state-of-the-art machine learning models for real-world problems in NLP, speech recognition, analytics, time-series prediction, or recommendation systems.Collaborate with teams across Business, Technology, Product Management, Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Business Management to deploy solutions into production.Lead firm-wide initiatives by developing large-scale frameworks to accelerate machine learning application across various business areas.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skillsStrong background in NLP, speech recognition, analytics, personalization/recommendation, with hands-on experience and understanding of machine learning and deep learning methods.PhD in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Optimization, Data Science) with relevant industry or research experience, or an MS with equivalent experience.Practical experience with machine learning and deep learning toolkits such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, NumPy, Scikit-Learn, Pandas.Ability to design experiments, training frameworks, and evaluate model performance aligned with business goals.Experience with big data, scalable model training, and effective communication of technical concepts to diverse audiences.Scientific mindset, independence, collaboration skills, curiosity, diligence, and motivation to solve complex analytical problems.Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skillsStrong foundation in Mathematics and Statistics; familiarity with financial services, continuous integration, and unit testing.Knowledge of search/ranking, Reinforcement Learning, or Meta Learning.Experience with A/B testing, data-driven product development, cloud deployment, and debugging production-quality code.Published research in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Reinforcement Learning at major conferences or journals.About MLCOEThe Machine Learning Center of Excellence (MLCOE) collaborates across the firm to develop and share machine learning solutions for challenging business problems, focusing on cutting-edge techniques like Deep Learning and Reinforcement Learning.
