The Corporate Director of Finance, EMEA, will be a strategic leader overseeing accounting and finance operations across all Starwood Hotels in the region. The role involves implementing effective tools and analyses to drive financial performance and safeguard assets.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with the Area Managing Director and regional team to influence strategic direction, identify growth opportunities, optimize resource allocation, and support sound financial decision-making.
- Lead finance and accounting responsibilities, including annual planning, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, financial analysis, cash management, and reporting.
- Enhance team skills in sales, profit maximization, and cost control, providing analytical tools to meet revenue goals and identify expense opportunities.
- Use financial analysis and market data to anticipate needs, address issues, and create value through innovation and calculated risk-taking.
- Develop trust with property owners, understanding management contracts, deal structures, and ROI expectations. Provide valuable insights and proactively address owner needs.
- Communicate effectively with owners through regular updates and presentations of financial results and business cases.
- Build strong relationships with property leadership, regional and corporate teams, external partners, and auditors.
- Manage and develop finance teams at properties, ensuring teams have the necessary tools and accountability.
- Manage corporate cost centers and reporting, maintain SOPs and ensure legal compliance.
- Review internal audits, financial statements, forecasts, and participate in monthly reviews.
- Ensure timely month-end closes, review large purchase orders and expense reports, and monitor hotel performance metrics.
- Promote a positive work environment and support team development.
- Assist with recruitment for finance positions.
- Oversee budget creation, project reviews, and pre-opening budgets.
- Participate in preopening teams and setup of finance systems, including onboarding and training new finance staff.
