Senior Linux Infrastructure Engineer with strong skills in Linux, Red Hat, Bash scripting and experience of working within High Performance research computing is urgently needed for our prestigious Russell Group London University client. You'll be working at the heart of a research-focused IT team, supporting and migrating critical Linux-based infrastructure that underpins scientific and academic computing.

Essential Experience:

  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix systems administration
  • Hands-on knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu
  • Proficiency in Bash scripting
  • Experience in research computing environments or HPC
  • Previous experience working in Higher Education or academic institutions
  • Comfortable working on both day-to-day support and infrastructure migration projects

Responsibilities:

  • Providing 2nd/3rd-line Linux system support (Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Leading or contributing to migration projects across Linux environments
  • Supporting and maintaining HPC and research computing clusters
  • Working closely with academic users to understand and meet their technical needs
  • Scripting and automating tasks using Bash and shell scripting
  • Monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting systems for performance and stability

Pay rate: £500-£600 per day inside IR35 - DOE - 3 Months initially with scope to extend. Hybrid working with 3-4 days on site per week in central London.
