An opportunity has arisen for an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager at our Seaforth, Liverpool site. As a key member of the Site Operations Team and part of the EHS Centre of Excellence (CoE), the job holder will facilitate the deployment of ADM’s safety, health, and environmental strategy across the location. You will ensure compliance with regulatory and ADM standards and help drive continuous improvement of EHS performance and results.
Your Responsibilities
- Safety, Health, and Environment Management: You will work closely with the EHS CoE to coordinate the deployment of ADM’s safety, health, and environmental strategy across the location, with the aim of zero injuries or incidents. You will work closely with location management on Employee Training / Competence / Skills to identify needs and progress and develop individuals with a learning pathway across multiple disciplines. You will maintain, improve, and deliver training programs for existing and new employees and also contractors, that increase their awareness and drive a behaviour-based safety culture in order to support ADM’s strategy.
- Compliance: You will work closely with all Departments, providing a hands-on approach to ensure programs are implemented, maintained and reviewed to ensure compliance with regulatory and ADM standards. You will ensure we are effectively managing risk with particular focus on Total Process Safety e.g. DSEAR and Fire compliance and on ADM’s Life Critical Standards e.g. permit to work systems. You will assist Operations by coordinating the creation, review and training of Risk Assessments and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs) and also Equipment Specific Lock Outs (ESLPs). You will work closely with the Site Compliance Manager, 'Main Environmental Contact', to ensure compliance with UK Environmental legislation and ADM’s Environmental standards. Ensure insurance checks are being carried out e.g. lifting equipment, fall arrest equipment, pressure vessels etc. You will be required to spend a large percentage of your time out in the field conducting regular site walkabouts to monitor activities and talk to employees and contractors. Also conducting compliance checks and audits to ensure Corporate and Site Standards are being consistently met.
- Management Systems and Incident Investigations and Reporting: You will support and maintain ADM’s SHE management systems, ensuring timely data entry and interrogating information sources to identify trends and provide guidance to drive continuous improvement. You will provide assistance and guidance on the root cause investigation and reporting requirements of any injuries or EHS incidents, including ensuring any follow-up actions are implemented on time.
- Communications: You will liaise closely with the UK Area H&S Manager and location management to ensure alignment with corporate objectives, strategy, and regulatory requirements. This includes attending certain meetings. You will provide safety, health & environmental advice to the location management and teams. You will pro-actively network with EHS CoE colleagues at the other ADM locations e.g. UK Milling sites. You will maintain effective communications with external bodies e.g. HSE, EA, the emergency services and UK Flour Millers.
Your Profile
- A recognised Health & Safety Qualification is preferred.
- Educated to degree level (Health and Safety, Engineering) or the proven ability to operate at that standard.
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a Production/Manufacturing Environment.
- Experience or an understanding of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering processes & procedures.
- Knowledge of combustible dust hazards and Hazard Area Classification.
- Experience with Method Statements, Risk Assessments, and Permit to Work Systems.
- EHS Compliance and auditing experience.
