Department Overview:

The function of the Product Strategy Department (PSD) within the Global Business Unit (GBU) is responsible for creating business and product strategies, whilst promoting the wide range of existing NAM products across each of the NAM offices globally. The work of the PSD will focus on analysing products, portfolios and strategies of both NAM and our competitors, and is also responsible in the identification of potential business opportunities and proposition of solutions within the NAM global offices, Nomura’s regional offices and Nomura’s clients.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the strategies of NAM’s product and portfolio range and that of our competitors.
  • Create, improve and promote business and product strategies in support of a fund, product or portfolio for each GBU office.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of the business strategy for the GBU business.
  • Identify and propose solutions for potential business opportunities by collaborating with various parties including NAM global offices, Nomura’s regional offices and Nomura’s clients.
  • Work closely with the dedicated marketing/product functions.
  • Actively support the promotion and administration of the existing UCITS platform.
  • Enhance the communication between NAM UK, GBU and the multiple functions of NAM Tokyo.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge on a wide range of financial products including traditional mutual funds, and preferably private assets and structured products.
  • Considerable experience of product structuring, client solution and business development.
  • Proven understanding of the asset and investment management environment, being able to interpret investment performance and strategies for a diverse range of products and portfolios.
  • Robust technical and deep data analytical skills in the review of products and the investments market.
  • Good understanding of product and portfolio trends in the market and competitor activity.
  • Systems knowledge such as Morningstar, eVestment, data portals and Microsoft office.
  • A positive business mind set, with the ability to think ahead and is responsive to tight deadlines and flexible to changing needs of the business.
  • Strong knowledge of product regulations across global jurisdictions and within the financial services regulatory environment.
  • Strong communicator at all levels with the confidence in delivering presentations and data.
  • Collaborative leader with the ability to build strong relationships internally and externally.
