Winter Maintenance Driver

Berry Recruitment are currently looking for Class 2 Drivers for a role due to start in October 2025 in Trafford!

Job Title: Winter Maintenance DriverStart Date: October 2025, contract due to continue until April 2026Salary: £16.00 per hour, £150 per week standby rate

Role Overview:

To work on a standby/callout basis to drive a HGV Vehicle to grit highways and public places, Drivers are expected to be available at all times throughout the week whilst on call to which a gross standby payment is paid irrespective of any hours worked to ensure your availability throughout.

Key Responsibilities:

• To undertake an inspection of the vehicle assigned for the duration of the shift, following a checklist, and reporting any faults or issues as appropriate to the Duty Manager.
• To assist in loading the vehicle with sufficient grit to undertake the assigned route. To drive and safely operate the computer to ensure the grit is appropriately distributed (full training will be provided)

Requirements:

• Current, valid Class 2/Cat C driving licence
• 3 years' HGV experience
• CPC
• Taco
• To ensure all provided personal protected equipment (PPE) is worn and used correctly at all times.
• To ensure your own health and safety, and that of other colleagues and members of the public are safeguarded at all times, and health and safety instructions issued are implemented and adhered to.
• 6195 ticket would be desirable
• Ability to start in October 2025 with some training required prior to role commencing
