A Senior Environmental Advisor vacancy has arisen within our fast-growing company based at our Head Office in Skegness. This is an exciting opportunity for a successful candidate to join our Quality, Safety, Health & Environmental team.
LOCATION: Skegness, Lincolnshire
JOB TYPE: Full Time
HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday; 9.00am to 5.00pm (with half an hour unpaid lunch break)
SALARY RANGE: £35,000 - £40,000 per annum
JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for delivery of the Microngreen Environment and Sustainability Strategy. The technical expert within the business for the environment, supporting the business on regulatory and legal matters and liaising with internal and external customers on a daily basis. Developing and reporting against key company metrics and working closely with cross-business project teams. Proactively establish relationships by building an environmental network, partnering with stakeholders to deliver projects and initiatives.
Duties to include:
- Overseeing delivery and taking a leadership role in the Microngreen Environment and Sustainability Strategy, reporting, monitoring, and setting up projects and initiatives with key stakeholders, to deliver against the outcomes within the Strategic Objective.
- Advise on environmental issues from a position of authority within the business and establish a wider understanding of environmental regulatory, legal, and permitting requirements including risk management and future scoping of upcoming requirements.
- Oversight of the Our Climate Pillar developing metrics to measure our carbon emissions for Scope 1, 2 and 3 working with teams on delivery of major projects, regulatory reporting and leading our site-based energy reduction boards.
- Oversight and delivery against the Our Circular Economy Pillar leading our waste management and reduction schemes including water efficiency and packaging reductions working with internal and external teams.
- Working closely with our R&D and strategy teams to advise on environmental materials and help build our circular economy through application of the 3R's - reducing, reusing, and recycling waste.
- Lead delivery of our People & Communicates Pillar including maintaining our accreditations, delivery of the CLEAN Award, Local Engagement Group, EDI, Modern Slavery and social value metric development and workshops.
- Taking a lead in maintaining our 14001 and 50001 Management Systems.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Degree / Post-graduate level education in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Scientific Chartership through a relevant awarding body desirable (or working toward).
- Experience in carbon reporting, environmental regulation, and circular economy.
- Self-starter with experience of managing and delivering projects.
- Developed communication and influencing skills – written and verbal.
- Competent with the use of complex IT systems and standard office software.
- Full clean UK/EU driving licence.
