Elevations Design & Projects team working with a global manufacturing business seeking a skilled and proactive Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team. This role is key to delivering high-quality electrical design solutions and related applications across all project stages—from tender through to completion.
You will be responsible for developing and delivering electrical designs, including low voltage (LV) systems, cable sizing, schematics, lighting, heating, and ventilation layouts. The role involves using industry-standard software such as Amtech, AutoCAD, Inventor, and Dialux, and producing technical documentation including bills of materials and manufacturing specifications.
This is a cross-functional role requiring collaboration with colleagues across engineering, manufacturing, contracts, and site operations.
Key Responsibilities:- Produce electrical designs, schematics, and cable calculations
- Develop heating, lighting, and ventilation models and calculations using appropriate tools
- Generate solid models and 2D/3D drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
- Support the production of technical documentation, including specifications, BOMs, and installation instructions
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g. architects, consultants, clients) to ensure design compliance and viability
- Participate in developing and standardising procedures and design solutions aligned with the company's manufacturing and construction methods
- Support and mentor Graduate Design Engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development
- Engage in product development, including new systems, software tools, and capital equipment specification
- Control design data flow to ensure alignment with the latest project information and site constraints
- Participate in knowledge-building secondments to other departments such as site, estimating, or project management
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
- 3–5 years of relevant post-graduate electrical design experience
- Qualified to BS 7671:2018 (18th Edition Wiring Regulations)
- Competent in using Amtech (or equivalent), AutoCAD, Dialux, and Inventor
- Sound knowledge of UK electrical design standards and codes of practice
- Working toward or achieved professional registration (e.g., MIET)
- Experience working in modular construction or similar prefabrication-based environments
- Exposure to multi-disciplinary project environments
