This business is dedicated to delivering high-quality technical products to various industries and are now looking for an Engineering and Technical Manager to join their senior leadership team. Job Role

W Talent Manufacturing and Engineering are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Engineering and Technical Manager to lead their engineering team and drive the successful development and delivery of new products from conception through to market launch. This role requires a highly skilled Engineer with a proven track record in New Product Development, capable of managing a team of engineers and serving as the subject matter expert across all product ranges within the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5 engineers, ensuring high performance, professional development, and effective collaboration. Allocate resources, manage workloads, and set clear objectives to achieve project milestones.
  • Product Development and Design Authority: Serve as the Design Authority for all new product developments, ensuring technical integrity and adherence to industry standards throughout the product lifecycle. Oversee the entire product development process from initial concept through to production, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery. Provide technical leadership and guidance on design, engineering, and manufacturing processes to ensure products meet customer requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the subject matter expert for the business on all engineering-related aspects of product ranges, offering deep technical knowledge and insight. Work closely with cross-functional teams including commercial, manufacturing, and quality assurance to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
  • High Hazard Environment Expertise: Apply knowledge of engineering principles within high hazard environments to ensure the safe design and operation of products. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, particularly concerning high hazard conditions.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple concurrent projects, balancing priorities and deadlines to deliver high-quality outcomes. Engage with key stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure alignment with business goals and customer expectations.
  • Technical Support and Troubleshooting: Provide expert technical support and troubleshooting advice to the engineering team and other departments as required. Lead the resolution of complex engineering challenges, drawing on a broad range of technical expertise.

Qualifications and Person Specification

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is advantageous - Mechanical Bias is preferred
  • Proven experience and a strong track record of bringing new products to market.
  • Health, safety, and environmental awareness is crucial - IOSH/NEBOSH would be advantageous
  • A background in a High Hazard environment is highly advantageous - Nuclear, Defence, Heavy Industry and Chemical etc
  • Significant experience in engineering management, leading teams in a fast-paced and innovative environment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant engineering standards, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
