Summary of Role: We are looking for enthusiastic graduate engineers to join our existing Energy team to perform all aspects of software design, development and implementation for PLC/IED based control and/or SCADA Operational Technology Systems. The role will require the successful candidate to work in a team on all aspects of a project lifecycle for the delivery of PLC/IED and SCADA/DCS systems in the renewable power generation, storage and transmission and distribution industries. Projects include upgrades of systems to latest versions, modification of systems for extensions and improvements as well as new build projects. Training will be provided on the job as required for technologies used in the projects assigned. This role will suit graduates who are looking for a career in control system automation software.
Essential Requirements:
- University Degree (BEng, BSc, MEng or MSc) in Control Systems Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering or similar
- Coding experience through degree course in at least one high level language (e.g. C, VB, C#, Java or similar)
- Understanding of Object Oriented Programming techniques and concepts
- Understanding or interest in operating systems, virtualisation and networking
- Willingness to travel and work away when required
Desirable Requirements/experience:
- Experience of writing PLC software to IEC61131 utilising ladder, function block diagram, sequential function chart and structured text.
- Experience of SCADA systems
- Experience of communication protocols including: Profibus/Profinet, Modbus TCP/RTU, IEC 60870-5-104, IEC 61850, DNP3 etc
- Experience of virtualisation utilising VMWare or HyperV
- Experience Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and Domain Configuration
- Experience of Network Switch and Firewall Configuration
- Experience of simulation software e.g. SIMIT/ PICS/WinMOD
- Full UK Driving licence
