Amazon.com is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel to support its work on M&A, joint ventures, investments, and other strategic transactions in India. The candidate must have a strong background in M&A, joint ventures, and investments, and be able to manage large and complex transactions with tight deadlines. They should also research and advise on transactional and general corporate matters and work effectively with outside counsel. Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours when necessary are essential.
A minimum of ten years of relevant M&A, joint ventures, and investments experience as a corporate transactions attorney is required. Relevant experience with acquisitions, joint ventures, and investments in the technology sector and/or start-up or early-stage companies is preferred but not required.
Key job responsibilities:
- Lead complex M&A, joint ventures, investments, and other strategic transactions
- Provide strategic guidance to Corporate Development and business teams
- Structure, draft, and negotiate transaction documents
- Ensure regulatory compliance
- Support portfolio company management
- Drive cross-border transaction execution
- Manage relationships with external counsel
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in law
- 12+ years of post-qualification experience
- 10+ years of experience as a corporate transactions attorney focused on M&A, joint ventures, and investments
- At least five years of major law firm experience
- Familiarity with various transaction types (e.g., private company, public company, stock purchase, asset purchase, cross-border, joint ventures, minority investments, etc.) in India
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with M&A, joint ventures, and investments involving technology companies and/or startups
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Sound and practical business judgment
- Ability to manage multiple mission-critical projects independently in fast-paced and ambiguous environments
